I think that the word “kamikaze” is probably interpreted very differently depending on whether you are Japanese or not. I feel like it’s being exported and spread with bad nuance and the wrong meaning.
Kamikaze does not mean a suicide bombing, but rather the arrival of divine and unexpected good fortune.
And our ancestors wished for the wrong “good fortune”. As a result, I feel that what the original words meant has been greatly distorted.
I don’t know if that’s the reason, but when I hear the word “kamikaze”, I think of burnt fields (probably strongly influenced by shr’s song “劇場”).
Somehow, I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately.
